Investor Calls on Cambodian Authorities to Act Against Alleged Fraud by YY Capital Chairman

(Phnom Penh) – An investor in YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has appealed to Cambodia’s Ministry of Justice, seeking urgent action against Yamada Taihei, the company’s Chairman, who stands accused of serious financial misconduct.

According to the investor, Yamada, a Japanese national, exploited his position to inflate real estate prices, resulting in the alleged misappropriation of around USD 4 million for himself and his associates. He is also accused of creating fictitious business transactions, arranging loans exceeding USD 7 million in the names of major Japanese firms, and falsifying documents to mislead shareholders.

The allegations further suggest that Yamada controlled multiple shell companies in Cambodia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore, appointing nominees as front-line directors while personally managing all financial activities. Some of the diverted funds were reportedly transferred overseas to an account under his wife, Ye Jun.

In Cambodia, at least two criminal cases have been filed against Yamada and his collaborators, with assets and bank accounts frozen by court order. Investigations are also reportedly underway in several other countries, including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States, over suspected embezzlement, money laundering, and breach of trust.

Through his appeal, the investor urges Cambodian authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, uphold justice, and ensure accountability, while raising concerns about potential interference that could obstruct proceedings or compromise evidence.
